We have written, edited, and deleted the beginning of our story too many times to count. Our egos found reasons not to post our story, afraid of what our family and friends would say or how they would perceive us when we tell them that we, Floyd and Ramon, are homeless, broke, and beginning to lose hope.
Our daily mantra to each other is "thank God I have you" it also serves as a daily reminder of Gratitude even in the face of what has become our reality. We quickly realized we did not know how to navigate this leg of our journey without each other.
We have also realized the value and meaning of friendship and the importance of family. Floyd has two childhood friends who he says "have become the sisters he never had." Those of you who have met my family know they are as supportive as humanly possible; my mom is always going that extra mile. There's yet another who was like a gift from our beloved Tracy Kennedy. She knows who she is, and we are blessed to call her friend and family.
Those who know us know that our dogs, Dante, Karmen, Ella, and Fiona, are the center of our lives. They are the ones who always show up without condition, whether we are without shelter or food for them or ourselves. It was a tough decision, but we sent Karmen and Fiona to live in North Dakota. We kept Dante and Ella with us as we felt their age might prevent them from acclimating to the drastic weather changes.
Today we find ourselves in a place we could never have imagined we would be. For this reason, we come to you, egos aside, and ask for your help. We are determined to turn our situation around and learn a new happy, create a new life for ourselves. If there is any amount you can donate, we would be forever grateful.
