Mission Team to Guatemala needs your help

Hi, my name is Craig Howard. I am a pastor in Petersburg WV. For many years now I have been taking teens and adults on mission trips to serve people in other countries in the name of Jesus. The picture you see is our group last year in Guatemala. I will be taking another group there in June. While we are there we will be working on and in a Christian School in San Juan La Laguna. We will travel into the mountains to remote villages to take food, bibles and to build wood burning cookstoves that are vented. One of the big problems for the poor in Guatemala is that they cook over open fires in their homes. They breath the smoke causing lung, kidney and liver damage. We build wood burning stoves that are vented from a concrete kit and cinder blocks. Each stove costs us around $155. The 200 bags of food we pass out costs us about $19 per bag of staples for a family for about a week. We also pass out 200 bibles at about $3 apiece. We do Maintenace and repairs on the school we work on that last year ran us about $5,000 and we sponsor a fun day for the children where we feed them grilled hotdogs, chips, cookies and a drink that we have to purchase along with supplies for the games. The cost of the trip for each person is $1,500 but that doesn't cover much more than travel, transportation, housing and food. There is a little left for the projects but not nearly enough. This fundraiser is to help cover the cost of the things above and beyond the care and transportation of the team. It is to help with all of the additional things we need to purchase for our projects like the stove, food, bags, bibles, and supplies for the school.
