Support Tara Oliver's Lung Transplant Journey

Donation protected
Meet Tara Oliver. Tara is a 46-year-old loving wife, mother of two great kiddos, her son Seamus(15) and daughter Charlie (13), She is a friend to many, and my great friend for almost 18 years. Tara has a wild and free spirit and is not afraid to stand up for what she believes in. She was diagnosed with Interstitial Lung disease years back, and has worn her oxygen pack, upgrading to oxygen canisters cranked up high in the last few months, taking her to kids' to their sporting events, attending concerts at Toyota amphitheater, summer BBQs out by the pool, but she never let it get her down. She always flashes her radiant smile and never complains, even though she can’t breathe! She told me on Friday, (in her Bronx accent she has), "I am just a happy person, and the doctors don't get how I can be so happy when I am dealing with my health declining so much, but I am just happy!"

Saturday morning @ 4:50am Tara received the call that they have her match, and it is time for the lung transplant! Her and her husband Chris packed up their belongings and hauled down to UCSF for the awaited procedure of a double lung transplant. Sunday morning she received her new lungs.

This is the beginning of a new journey as a transplant recipient. Tara is currently in ICU, and will remain in the hospital for the next month as her body and the new lungs learn to work together, after discharge they will be required to live in S.F. for a minimum of 2 more months attending therapy, doctor appointments, and all of the testing necessary. This will require Chris to take a leave of absence from the Placer County Sheriff's office to be at her bedside and care for her. The heartache and fear friends and family feel right now is almost unbearable as we pray for healing. Please consider donating to help alleviate the stress of the financial aspect during this time of the unknown.

A meal train will be coordinated as we know more. Right now, your contribution for food out of town, gas for travels back and forth to UCSF, hotel stays, gift cards, and your prayers for the Oliver Family & Tara's recovery is greatly appreciated. Your donation is being collected by myself Heather Coffer and will be given directly to Chris Oliver as a Cash donation to use as needed during this time.
Updates will be posted as we get them.
