Hope Roots Collective:
Supporting wellness professionals to enrich our community by providing grounding in nature and grounding in community.
Hello! We are Leah and Ren. We are both mental health therapists in the Kansas City area with a passion for the work we do. We met in 2015 when we were therapy interns and have remained friends and colleagues ever since - providing therapy in a domestic violence shelter and then working parallel to each other as we each built our private practice. Leah is bilingual in English and Spanish and has a passion for working with teens, people in the perinatal stage of life (pregnant and new parents), and writing mental health evaluations for those applying for immigration visas. Ren is trained in EMDR and is passionate about helping people heal from trauma and attachment wounds, including victims of domestic violence and car accidents.
For the past couple of years we have been fine-tuning our dream to purchase a building for a wellness collective. We are currently under contract on a building that is perfect for us - a charming home on almost 2 tree-filled acres, nestled in an up-and-coming area of Olathe. It's even right next door to another mental health facility.
We are currently working through the re-zoning process and making plans to make sure that the building is safe and accessible before we open for business. As we do this, expenses are adding up. We are confident that this location has the potential to provide healing to both therapists and clients, and are asking for additional funding to help us get to the finish line!
Hope Roots Collective is:
*A collective including mental health therapists and other wellness professionals (such as yoga instructors, acupuncturists, nurse practitioners, etc.)
The goals of Hope Roots Collective:
*Purchase a building to house the collective. One of the driving factors in our decision to purchase a building is to be able to incorporate nature into healing practices. We are under contract on a building in Olathe that would allow us to provide outdoor and walk-and-talk sessions. We might even have a therapy cow on site!
*Decrease helper burnout by providing a community of support for those in private practice. We plan to host monthly consultation meetings and provide space and opportunity for clinicians to diversify their incomes by leading groups, trainings, retreats, and more.
*Expand the reach and availability of mental health and healing services to the community by having multiple services in one location with providers who are passionate about self-care and the work that they do. Providing a variety of services (individual therapy, groups, retreats, etc.) provides opportunity for mental healthcare to remain affordable and accessible to those needing it while also providing more financial stability and options for the provider.
Leah and Ren both have existing thriving therapy practices, and are so excited to take this next step in our careers as we continue to find a balance to care for ourselves, our families, each other, and our community. We are so grateful for any support people are able to offer!
We are happy to share more information, including our business plan, upon request.
