Help Scruffy Dog Rescue build a Dog Park for rescue dogs

My name is Sue, and I’m the Fundraising Manager for Scruffy Dog Rescue Shropshire.

We rescue dogs from Romania, Bosnia and Spain, nurture them and prepare them for adoption to loving homes in the UK.

SCRUFFY DOG RESCUE PAWS’ PARK

About a year ago we announced some very exciting news. SDR had designated a 1.5 acre area of land to create The SDR Paws’ Park. It’s right next to the kennels area, and will have secure access to and from the safe areas where the dogs are cared for.

The project went on hold due to poor weather, ill health of some of the SDR Team, and not being quite ready to plough on with this big project. However, we’re ready now and hope to have the Paws Park open during 2025.

The idea is to create a huge secure space where our rescue dogs can have supervised off lead playtime, supervised natural mentoring between confident paws and not so confident paws, lead training, confidence building with humans as well as other dogs and open spaces, and lots of fun fun fun.

The majority of our paws have never worn a collar, never used a lead, never had any training whatsoever; they often have fight or flight built in, are scared of big spaces, small spaces, or even the open air; some cower with humans, with bigger dogs, smaller dogs or even their own shadow, some guard their space or their food. It’s all about confidence. And of course some don’t have any of these traits and act as fantastic mentors for others. Team SDR do an amazing job to build a paws’ confidence. Our new Paws’ Park will help the paws and the team so much.

The area requires secure 6-foot high perimeter fencing all the way around the field. And this is where you come in . Would you like to SPONSOR A PORTION OF FENCING? This is a big expensive project and we need your help for the materials only, which will have a 20+ year life. SDR’s founder, Jinni, is funding the labour costs for the guys who will erect the fencing.
