Did you know that the average temperature of the ocean has risen by 1.5 degrees F since 1901?
“Oceans interact with the atmosphere through the water cycle, so an increase in the average global sea surface temperature affects the climate and weather systems. A higher sea surface temperature has led to an increase in the intensity of storms, especially tropical cyclones or hurricanes. This higher temperature also has the potential to shift storm tracks and contribute to droughts in some areas.” - NOAA
In the Gulf Of Mexico the temperatures this summer were several degrees above normal. This warm water was a factor in the rapid strengthening of Hurricane Ian.
As Mrs Florida I am a representative of the Beauties for a Cause organization. This 503c4 works to increase educational and volunteer opportunities for girls on the subject of climate change and preservation.
I am raising money for this organization. I am also raising money for the Florida Disaster Fund. Following Hurricane Ian thousands of Floridians have been left homeless, or had their lives severely impacted.
I will be donating half of what I raise to B4AC and the other half to the Florida Disaster Fund.
I hope you will be moved to contribute or share this message. Thank you for following along with me on my journey as Mrs. Florida.
