A Home Away — Give the Gift of Escape, Discovery, and Connection

Every child deserves the chance to explore beyond their postcode. Every family deserves a break from the everyday. Yet for too many, a holiday is simply out of reach.

My name is Rosa and i had the idea of A Home Away while on holiday with my young family. I want everyone to be able to have a break and i think it is achievable by unlocking the potential of second homes across the UK and transforming them into powerful tools for social good.

I want to match second homeowners with families who have never had the opportunity to go away. Whether they’re facing financial hardship, caring for loved ones, or rebuilding after crisis, these families will be carefully chosen and supported to enjoy what many take for granted — a chance to rest, to breathe, and to be together in a new place.

Why It Matters:

For Children: Experiencing new places plays a vital role in a child’s development. It sparks imagination, builds confidence, and nurtures social and emotional growth. Holidays don’t just offer a break — they offer perspective, curiosity, and hope.

For Families: A few days away can lift the weight of everyday stresses, strengthen relationships, and support mental health. In times of strain, a peaceful place to reconnect can be life-changing.

For Society: 1 in 3 families in the UK can’t afford a single night away. This isn’t about luxury — it’s about dignity, access, and kindness. By opening your second home, you help level the playing field in the most human way possible.
