Canouan Community Relief Fund - Hurricane Beryl Aid

Hello Friends,

On Monday July 1st the eye of Hurricane Beryl ripped through three tiny islands in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, flattening 90% of Canouan, Mayreau and Union Island. The damage is catastrophic and aid is needed immediately.

Canouan hold a special place in our hearts as we have all lived and worked there as expats. We are asking for donations big and small to help the people of Canouan. Anything you can do to help is greatly appreciated.

There is no power, no food, no water and they are in dire need of your support. We are still unable to make contact with our friends on the Island.

To put it into perspective this tiny Island is 3 square miles, and has a population of 1500 people. There is no hospital on the island and in situations like these, disease will spread quickly.

We have local contacts Ketty Ryhnd (principal of the elementary school in Canouan) and Luigi Salemi (Freelance Architect) on the mainland who will help ensure to get clean water, food and medical supplies by ferry to those most in need. Ketty and her sister Astuna will be distributing food, water, tents and medical supplies at the school to the community. We plan to document all of the purchases and proof of shipping by ferry.
