Raise building funds for 1st Mendlesham Scout Group

Hi I’m Jonathan and in September I will be climbing Kilimanjaro during a 10 day expedition with my brother to celebrate his 40th birthday. While on this amazing adventure, I thought it would be a great opportunity to raise much needed funds for 1st Mendlesham Scout Group where I am the Assistant Lead Volunteer and Explorer Team Lead.

I joined Scouting when I was little and have been a leader for 14 years. 1st Mendlesham has been apart of my Scouting life since the beginning and I wish to see it continue. The Scout Group is a strong 40+ members ranging from Beavers to Explorers (aged 6 - 18 years old), with very dedicated section leaders, along with Martyn Bryant our Lead Volunteer at the helm who has been pushing Scouting in our community and driving the building project to where it is now.

Unfortunately, in 2016 our Scout Hut had to be demolished after being deemed unsafe and since we have been running in local community centres. We have planning permission to build and a building supplied by a local company. The funding will go towards furnishing the new building. This building will serve not only the Scout Group but the local community too.
