Hello everyone! Today, we come to you with a heart full of hope and a deep desire to honor the life and legacy of an extraordinary man—Deacon Prince Albert Hearns Jr. Through our newly formed nonprofit, The Prayer Warrior, we have established the Deacon Prince Albert Hearns Jr. Memorial Scholarship Fund. This scholarship fund stands as a beacon of light, dedicated to continuing the values and principles that Deacon Prince Albert Hearns embodied throughout his life.
Who Was Deacon Prince Albert Hearns Jr.?
Deacon Prince Albert Hearns was more than just a name; he was a man of faith, a pillar in his community, and a loving family man. Born on October 13, 1943, in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, he grew into a life of service, both to his country and to his community. After graduating from Jarvis Christian College in 1967 with a bachelor’s degree in biology and a minor in human performance, Prince was drafted into the United States Army.
He served as a Medical Specialist during the Vietnam War, earning the Vietnam Service Campaign Medal and recognition as a Sharpshooter with the M-14 and an Expert with the M-16. His bravery in the face of war was only matched by his humility; he rarely spoke of his experiences, instead choosing to serve his community quietly and faithfully.
After his honorable discharge from the Army, he settled in Dallas, Texas, where he opened a family-oriented restaurant named ENOCH and became deeply involved in his church, Oak Cliff Bible Fellowship (OCBF). For over 43 years, he served as a Deacon, led prayer ministries, and taught Bible classes. His commitment to his faith and community was unwavering. Prince Albert Hearns was a man who put others first, always asking how he could pray for someone, always offering a smile, and always showing love and kindness to everyone he met. His dedication extended to his work in the food services departments of Dallas ISD and Fort Worth ISD, where he served faithfully for many years until his retirement.
On Easter Sunday 2024, at the age of 80, Deacon Prince Albert Hearns Jr. passed away, leaving behind his wife, Ophelia, and his children—Peter Alexander Hearns, Christian Hearns, and Ariana Sharp—as well as his beloved grandchildren, Bolden and Colson. Although he is no longer with us in person, his spirit of service, love, and faith continues to inspire all who knew him.
