Medical Bills - ICU
Donation protected
Good day everyone,
Carol Cornwell Strickland was a fighter. Diagnosed with MRSA pneumonia she entered the hospital on October 9th and was intubated shortly thereafter. Her care included almost 2 weeks in the Intensive Care Unit where she fought her way off of the ventilator, which with her lung damage was absolutely a miracle.
This allowed us to spend time with her that I will never ever forget. It was such a gift.
My mom’s first reaction to people struggling is how she can help. Frequently, that’s by lending an experienced therapists ear with the compassion and empathy of a family member. She had a gift of being present for people, listening and being unconditionally loving. No matter what.
I know as her last wishes were shared that she was worried about me and Dave. We assured her we would be ok. Unfortunately, due to insurance and health care systems my mom was denied continuing life insurance after she retired, due to her illnesses.
One thing I know she would have loved is for people to show up now, in her time of need.
In lieu of flowers or other gifts, we are asking that people who would like to, make a donation to this fundraising effort. All proceeds will go to cover these medical costs and any funeral/memorial costs.
