Aid for Clay's Family Displaced by Hurricane Damage

Hello, my name is Clay Watt.

I live in Altamonte Springs, Florida.

This fundraiser is for me and my family due to Hurricane Helene.

With the most recent Hurricane Helene, myself, my wife Britanie, and our 3 pets have been evacuated from our apartment, and the apartment has been deemed by the city of Altamonte Springs to be unsound and we can no longer live there.

Around 9:40 pm the night of the hurricane, September 26th, a tree had fallen from the winds and right into our living room and bedroom. We had to call the fire department, and they evacuated us from our apartment as well as our pets. All 3 of the pets are safe, as well as me and my wife, but we are currently staying at a motel as we have nowhere to go.

We called the main office of our apartment several times around when the tree had fallen, and when they finally called us back that night and we asked if they had a vacant place or safe area for us to stay for the storm, they advised they would "need to check in the morning with management."

So far everything has been paid out of pocket, including all motel fees and moving expenses, as the apartment has informed us that they are unable to reimburse us or provide any assistance in losing our home.

We are currently in the process of getting a new place set up, but with the old apartment being deemed structurally unsound and unsafe by the city, and it being Florida, it has been raining with a tree through our roof in our living room and bedroom, as well as any drywall and fiberglass that came out of the roof and walls when it fell, we are unsure if anything can be saved.

We already know all of our clothes were ruined except for what we were wearing, we had some very emotionally important items in there and some things worth of value that we cannot collect and that may be entirely ruined from either the damage of the storm and tree, the rain covering everything, or bugs/animals from the open holes in the roof.

We are not sure what to do at this point as the apartment has not provided any assistance, and we have already reached out to the resources we could find with little to no response.
