Support Afghan Family's New Start in Charlotte

We are the Newcomer Sponsorship team at Harrison UMC in Charlotte, NC. In response to Jesus' command for us to welcome the stranger, we are sponsoring an Afghan family move to Charlotte and settle into our community. We are working through the Sponsor Circle Program and No One Left Behind. Both organizations help Afghan allies who aided our military during the war in Afghanistan and, as a result, had to flee their country for the safety of themselves and their families.

Our support of the family will include tasks like finding and furnishing initial housing, stocking the pantry, connecting children to school, providing initial income support, and helping adults find employment. We need to raise $2,425 per family member to support them for the first 90 days they are in this country. For a family of 6-8 people we will need $15,00 to $20,000. Money collected here will be used to cover rent, utilities, household items, clothing, and groceries.
