Help H complete an Engineering degree

Please help us raise further funds to support H.

H is now 24 years old.  He is the eldest of six children.  Sadly due to significant health issues his mother was unable to look after the children and they were placed in care, and were separated from each other.  Over time some of the siblings were placed together, but they were unable to live together as a family unit, and haven’t done so since they were placed in care.  In his mid teens H returned home for a while, where he cared for his mother.

H was able to attend college and then University, where he did a Foundation course and then a Degree in engineering.    H has worked in numerous jobs to support his family and his studies, his dream is to find employment as a chartered civil engineer.  He needs to study civil engineering at Masters level to be able to achieve this.  He applied for his MA and was turned down three times before being finally accepted, and has started his course in September 2020.  Needing to work to support himself has meant that H’s journey through education has not been consecutive periods of study.

As a care leaver over the age of 21 the duties of the local authority are to provide assistance up to the age of 25, this may include support with accommodation, and/or support with education.  H is studying part time, alongside working.  This is a reality for many young people who are self funding through second degrees, where there is less financial support available. Studying part time limits the support available to him as a care leaver.

H is clearly a talented young man, who despite many adverse childhood experiences has worked incredibly hard to achieve in education.  Sadly, very few carer leavers have access to university education.  H has the opportunity to reach life changing achievements.  An MA in civil engineering would not only give H the best opportunity of achieving his dream job, it would be life changing.    He has the ability to achieve this, however the opportunity is entirely dependent on securing sufficient finances to fund his course.

H’s fees are £5000 per year, for a two year part time course. Due to the generosity of donations to the Foundation so far, along with another charity we have been able to Fund H’s fees for 2020-2021.  Please help us to raise £2500 to fund H’s fees for 2021-2022.

H needs your support to help him on the next step to achieving his ambitions and changing the course of his life.

Please give whatever you can, no amount is too small to make a difference
